This comes from small plots planted with old vines that survived the \"concentración parcelaria\" (a land consolidation exercise that destroyed the majority of old vineyards). It has a fine palate with vibrant flavors, great purity and very integrated oak. Really great showing for this bottling, one of the best I remember. It matured in 500-liter oak barrels for 10 months. It's very drinkable. 6,000 bottles were filled in September 2019.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003eThe Artazu wines, Artadi's project in Navarra, were already published with the full Artadi portfolio in December 2019, but they are also included here in their context. It was produced with the grapes from the younger vines in the villages of Artazu and San Martín de Unx and was planted with a massal selection of each village, and it fermented at low temperature to keep the floral and fruit aromas. It has moderate alcohol with good freshness, making it easy to drink, aromatic and primary. They harvested early in a year that was wet and warm and with fungal diseases (especially mildew), so it's a bit of an irregular vintage. This year, they tried to obtain a paler wine with less maceration, more floral and with a little more acidity with some citrus hints. It has medium structure and volume, but it has gained in drinkability. This is also sold in cans under the brand Ah-So. 50,000 bottles produced. As has been the case in the last few years with Artadi's reds, it had a short élevage of only nine months in 500-liter French oak barrels, including malolactic. The climate and soils are quite similar to Rioja, maybe a bit more extreme here, cooler in cool vintages, warmer in warm years, so this 2018 shows a little like the range from Rioja, elegant and with more freshness.
