Ormes de Pez
Located in Saint-Estèphe of the Médoc region, Château Ormes de Pez was founded in the 18th century. Managed by the Cazes family since 1939, Château Ormes de Pez is now modernized thanks to the restructuring of vineyards and extensive renovations to the winery. The name "pez" translates to peace in the local dialect and is also a nod to the elm trees that once grew alongside the estate.
Château Ormes de Pez wines are produced precisely and with much care as the wines of with Château Lynch-Bages, another winery that is managed by the Cazes family. Château Ormes de Pez’s vines are about 35 years old on average and the wines are made of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and complemented by a significant amount of Merlot for a combination of longevity and smoothness. The resulting wines are rich and fruity with a rather imposing tannic backbone. They are seductive in their youth and develop their finesse after a few years of bottle age.
