Aromas of cherries, dark berries, plums, raw cocoa and spices introduce the 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Bousselots, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered wine with supple tannins, lively acids and a sapid finish. It's a touch deeper-pitched and more structured than the Chaignots.
Domaine Robert Chevillon is one of my favorite addresses in all of Burgundy, producing hearty, characterful wines that stand the test of time. Old vines, cultivated soils, moderate yields and long macerations at comparatively high temperatures with entirely destemmed grapes are the order of the day at this address, with the Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes seeing some 20% new oak and the premiers crus 30%. Nuits's Tonnellerie Sirugue is the dominant supplier of barrels.
