Description
Barbera d'Alba “Il Cerreto” comes from Roberto Voerzio’s vineyard parcel near La Morra, with both east- and west-facing exposures. While Barbera is often associated with humble, everyday drinking, this true cru rises far above, showing remarkable depth and nobility of character.
The nose often reveals fresh mint and notes of small fruit preserves, blackberry and cherry with hints of spicy nuances. Vibrant and fresh, it showcases plush, juicy red fruits that flows seamlessly into a long finish, framed by fine grainy tannins.
The vineyard, planted in the late 1990s just in front of the winery in Ceretto, La Morra, reflects Voerzio’s meticulous approach to site selection. He has consistently demonstrated that Barbera, when planted in great terroirs and farmed with intent, can rival the region’s most celebrated wines. On multiple occasions, across vertical tastings of Roberto Voerzio’s Barolo, the Barberas have stood out as some of the most compelling wines of the night. “Il Cerreto” is a shining example of just how serious and age-worthy the variety can be.
